If you live in Cambourne this is a lovely linear walk about 1 mile there and 1 mile back. Walking at Bourn Windmillįrom Bourn Windmill you can walk along the public footpath to Cambourne. The path along the river is unsurfaced and can be muddy/slippery in winter. You can walk as far as you want and then come back or make a circular walk by using the public right of way, or walk back via the village (and Red Lion pub). Refreshments can be found at The Plough or garden centre in Coton village.įrom Hinxton Watermill there is a lovely riverside walk along the River Cam. Please note that Healthy Walks are back up and running at Wandlebury in line with government guidance, we look forward to seeing you soon. The meeting point is the Stables Education Centre. If you want to take part for the first time then please arrive 10 mins early in order to register. Some people like it so much they do both walks! Teas/coffees are available afterwards. Walks are well-attended, with 40 people joining most weeks. This social group meets all year round at 10am every Thursday morning, with the slower walk starting at 10.30am. With the slower, second walk, we offer a shortcut back to the base if needed. Each walk lasts around 30 minutes and covers about 1.5 miles. The first is slightly faster while the second is more leisurely, accommodating people who are not so fit or are newcomers to the group. We have an enthusiastic group of trained volunteers who lead our two, weekly health walks at Wandlebury, supported by funding from Local Giving. To the north you can walk along the historic Roman Road and to the south you can cross the A1307 to explore the paths at Magog Down. If that's not enough, you can join the public rights of way network to explore the surrounding Gog Magog Hills. You can pick up a free leaflet from the noticeboard at the car park (or from the information centre near the toilets) which shows the paths and there are some finger posts - but it is a great place to just wander and make it up as you go. The paths are mostly flat and without barriers but only a short section near the car park is surfaced. Wandlebury has 8 miles of footpaths to explore wildflower meadows, woodlands, orchards and Iron-Age ditches. Walking at Wandlebury Country Park and the Gog Magog Hills Whether its a gentle stroll or strenuous hike you can enjoy beautiful countryside, nature and history.
